Time to Evaluate 09-23-2009

This blog will be my attempt at evaluating something so I can improve my evaluation skills. My chosen topic is a bottle of coca-cola.

Coca-cola is one of the best soda drinks out of the vast majority of soda pops. The bottle coke comes in is very sexy looking in style. You could almost see the design of the bottle was taken from a silhouette of a voluptuous woman. You can see the curves at the top mimic the breasts of a woman. The bottom resembles a very sexy posterior end of a woman. In the middle of the bottle you can see a waist is slim enough to give definition to the top and bottom of the bottle. The actual liquid of the soda pop bites the tongue just right. The feeling of the bubbly soda going down my throat provides a happy reaction after a swallow of coke. The darkness of the soda adds to the appearance of the whole picture. If the soda pop was a different color, then I believe the appeal of coke would not be as great.

There is my brief evaluation of coca-cola. I mentioned the bottles appearance, and the feeling of drinking the soda. As for the taste, I will evaluate that piece of the pop at another date and time.

What a Weekend 09-21-2009

This past weekend I house sat for my aunt and uncle again, which is why I have not posted for the past couple of days.

There is nothing really new to report. I did, however, see the chick, Maria, from last Thursday again downstairs at the BOB. I believe she goes there after work because of the dollar drafts plus she works nearby. Also, after the comedy show at Dr. Grins, a girl came up to me and thought I was cool for attending the comedy shows every Thursday night by myself. She was very good looking. She wore a gold colored blouse and has dark black hair. She stood a few inches below me. I mean she is shorter than I am. I hope I see her again this week after the comedy show.

Remember 09-17-2009

I can not remember if I blogged yesterday or not. I'm leaning toward the, "I did not," blog side. Like I have been saying...Oh, well! My blog. Yesterday was Wednesday, which means Tuesday I gave my second speech for Toastmasters. The speech was supposed to be humorous, but I did not put forth the best effort. In other words, I did a mediocre job; however, I am proud of myself speech for a couple of reasons. First, I picked a topic and actually stuck with the subject matter, even with the thought of wanting to switch topics do to a lack of focus and me trying to find an easy way out. Another reason for taking pride in myself, is due to the fact that the speech only took about five days to complete even though I did not actually physically write out my speech. I would like to reiterate, my speech only took about five days and I signed up two weeks ago. Horray for me!!!

Another Day Gone 09-14-2009

So, yesterday I never blogged about anything. Oh, well! Since this is my blog and I set my own rules, I guess I can break them from time to time.

Tomorrow, I have to give a speech for my toastmaster's club. The speech is actually for the humorous speech contest. I am not that prepared for the event. I have my idea/topic, but I am having difficulty deciding how to tackle the subject. The speech is only five to seven minutes long. How hard can it be to come up with seven minutes of talking about one subject. I will survive and deliver something tomorrow.

Wednesday I will try to evaluate either my speech given on Tuesday, or the movie "9," which I saw last Friday.

Speech 09-12-2009

Tuesday night I have to give a humorous speech. So far, I have not even narrowed down my ideas on the topic I am planning to speak about. Procrastinating really takes a toll on myself. I will come up with a speech. How good will the speech be, is something that is to be determined on the due date. I will fill you in on how well I give the speech.

Missed 09-11-2009

Obviously I missed yesterdays blogging session. Oops! So, what have I done since my last blog? Yesterday, I went to the Thursday night comedy show and stayed at the club after the show until closing time. The place I go to has four levels of bars. The comedy club sits on the third floor. I usually stay mostly on the second floor after the show. Occasionally I manage to get myself into the dance club on the first floor to see what is going on inside, for usually on Thursday nights, there are not many people in the dance club. Instead of staying on the second floor, I went to the basement. I talked with some of the open micers and we included a few other people at the bar. There were two girls at the bar. They were sisters. After talking to one of the girls, I took my chances and gave her my name and phone number. I do not remember what I said besides saying, "I know you probably get this a lot," as I handed her the information. I do not expect any contact from her, but who knows. Perhaps, I will get lucky and at least go out once with her. Until that happens, I will keep my options open.

Evaluation 09-09-2009

Here is my attempt to evaluate something. I need to improve my evaluating skills. So, I am going to try evaluating something at least once a week in words online. Here I go!

"All About Steve," is a movie starring Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper, and Thomas Haden Church. The begining of the film starts out nice and simple. Here is a woman, who lives with her parents due to her apartment being fumigated. The woman designs and writes crossword problems. She is a single woman, who goes on a blind date her parents chose. She falls in love immediately with the guy and for the whole film she practically stalks the guy.

The film as a whole was fun to watch mostly because Sandra Bullock is always a wonderful joy to the eye and makes an okay film enjoyable. Sandra gets into her character and mixes in a small amount of Sandra Bullock from the first "Speed."

The story seemed to veer off into a few different directions. First the main character is telling us how life is like a crossword puzzle. Then she is all of a sudden a stalker. Eventually she gets trapped in a mine and the movie turns out to be about saving her. Last, after she is rescued from the mine she runs towards a few people she practically just met and acts like she was in love with a different guy all along.

I know this is a very choppy evaluation, but this is why I need practice. We'll try evaluating something else possibly tomorrow. I will try to be more descriptive.

Back 09-08-2009

I am blogging to let all know that I am back to blogging.

So, what has happened this past Labor Day weekend? Well, I dog sat for my aunt and uncle. On Saturday night, I was at the kitchen table surfing the web when a bat entered the house. My aunt and uncle have an enclosure for the dogs that is connected to the house in such a way as to keep the door open. The enclosure has a separate door leading to the outside, plus a doggy door. Anyway, out of nowhere a flying thing zooms into the house. It flew between the family room and kitchen. After I ran out of the kitchen into a smaller dining room, I inched back to the kitchen and saw that a bat intruded into the house. So, I tried to find what I could to try and trap the beast. I felt like I was re-enacting a scene from, "The Great Outdoors." The bat attack happened just before I left for downtown Saturday night.

Saturday night, instead of going to the BOB, I bar hopped. I visited four bars I never been to before. I drank my usual amount of alcohol, but the amount I consumed made me pretty buzz/drunk. So, I went to a hot dog place to try and sober up enough to journey back to my aunt and uncle's house. All I can say is that the food really helped.

The other thing I did this weekend was watch two movies, which were "Extract" and "All About Steve." Both films were fun to watch, but I liked "Extract" more than "All About Steve," however, I can never get enough Sandra Bullock...grrrr! Perhaps I will review the films tomorrow, as my time right now is dwindling away.

The Weekend is Up 09-03-2009

Tomorrow after work, I start house sitting for my uncle. So, that means I may or may not be able to blog for the next three to four days. I will bring my laptop with me, but we shall see if I remember to type away.

I have been thinking more about wanting to buy a house. The time for me to purchase one is not even close, but I started to at least see what is available now just to see my options. Also, this will gain me more knowledge for when I do decide to purchase a new home. If I had the money now, I would almost be ready to place a down payment on a home.

Besides a new home, I have also been thinking today about finding new avenues to increase my income. I like my job, but right now there is a pay freeze and I do not know when a raise will be in the future. So, I either have to find a part time second job, get a newer higher paying job, or really press myself to crank down and work every day to get video projects made so I can create a demo real to promote myself in order to acquire free lance work in film and video. Now that, that rant is over, have a wonderful weekend.

Meeting 09-02-2009

Tonight, I attended a township town hall meeting. The main reason for the attendence was to observe the debate about a Family Fare developmental plan. The main attendees were residents living in the tenative construction area. The main complaints about the current plan included hours of operation, a burm with ten foot trees instead of no burm and five foot trees, and the moving of a service entry for trucks. In my view, nothing seemed too detrimental to those residents lives. Alas, nobody really cares for change when in their own back yard.

Brain Dead 09-01-2009

Have any of you had one of those brain dead type of days? I'm talking about the kind of brain dead where you are at work. You are working on your various tasks. However, you just feel like you're not paying attention, or thinking about anything. Well, I had one of those days today. I felt like I was looking at a blank piece of paper all day long. I was doing my job, but didn't feel like I was doing anything at all. It must just be one of those days.

So Far 08-31-2009

So, yesterday I worked out in the garden picking weeds. Among the plethora of weeds in the garden, there were a few blotches of poison ivy and I think even a poison oak weed. I did not touch the any part of the leaves of either plant. I only touched the roots. Today, I have had small spots that needed a little itch, but I was able to contain myself. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Tonight I shall work more with adobe after effects CS4. Oh, how fun!!!

Work 08-30-2009

Right now, I feel very relaxed. The reason for my relaxed state is from working in the garden pulling weeds for a few hours. A lot of progress has been made, and most of the weeds in the garden have been picked. The garden looks great and my new gladiolas have flowered. They look wonderful.

Also, my parents and I have just covered the pool up because nobody is going to swim anytime soon. Plus, the temperature is just going to go down from here. The current temperature is 68 degrees, not too cold to swim, but cold enough not to swim.

Tonight, more comedy at the Landing Lounge. Oh, how fun!

Taking Woodstock 08-29-2009

Yesterday, I saw the movie, "Taking Woodstock." Overall, the film was pretty fun to watch. I can't really say that I'd see the movie over and over and over, but it was worth seeing once. The movie seems like it doesn't really know what kind of a movie it wants to be - comedy, docudrama, experimental - who knows? There were some scenes in the flick that felt like they were just thrown in there to make the thing longer. I would say, "Taking Woodstock," is more for watching the culture developed and surrounding Woodstock.

My Safe Zone 08-28-2009

I'm starting to think more and more about how to step out of my bubble, out of my comfort zone. Every week I do practically the samething. My routine has not really changed for the past two years. At least I feel like it hasn't sometimes. Obviously my life has changed in two years. I don't work at the bowling alley any more. I Have been attempting stand-up comedy for roughly two years, who would have thought me practicing stand-up. I sing karaoke. I had to get a new car due to my accident earlier in the year. And I almost had a girl friend, but I screwed that up. Live and learn.

No Title 08-27-2009

I practiced playing the guitar yesterday for about an half hour. Today, my fingers feel a little tender from practicing mainly due to not really playing the guitar for the past couple of weeks. Amazing how much your body forgets when you take a little time off.

Tonight, I get to go to the comedy show and laugh with the audience at the comedian on stage. I hope one day I'll find some one to join me on a weekly basis.

Ha Ha 08-26-2009

So, last night I went to Joe Vs, a bar in Grand Rapids, and performed during open mic/karaoke. I was able to make some one physically laugh at the bar itself. Oh, what a feeling of accomplishment. I feel after yesterday that I am starting to make some form of progress in the stand-up comedy arena. I admit I'm also trying to actually work on my material more, which kind of helps the improvement. I think one day I may even be able to draw a crowd to see me week after week at Joe Vs. Once that happens, then I'll know real progress is being made and my level of comedy has grown. Practice, practice, practice!

Toast 08-25-2009

Tonight is my toastmaster's club meeting. I am the time keeper, which means I keep track of every speakers' times. I may be chosen to speak during our table topics meeting round, but I won't know until I am called upon.

Today at work, I managed to think of wome comedy bits/jokes. I ran through some ideas in my head to try and remember on stage tonight at Joe Vs after toastmasters. I need to relax, start with a strong intro, and have a decent flow, rhythm to my set. Good luck to me.

Missed Again 08-24-2009

Today is Monday, which means I missed my Sunday blogging session. Oh, well! I'm at least remembering to add my thoughts in tonight just before I retire for the evening.

Any way, between yesterday and this afternoon, I am learning Adobe Encore CS4 pretty well. Am I an expert? Not by any means, but I feel pretty comfortable creating menus and authoring my own DVDs. I completed one DVD yesterday, but it does not play on the DVD player in my room, yet it plays on the DVD player in the living room. Also, the DVD plays on my computer. As far as I know I am using everything correctly. The only thing I can think of trying is a different brand of DVDs. I am currently using DYNEX.

I went out the other night with my brother and his wife. Like my older brother, both of them kind of gave me a small lecture. Yes, I live at home and yes I would like to have my own place some day to do the nasty with a woman or two. However, I am still finding out who I am and what I want to do with my life. Me, still living at home is giving me the financial security for the time being to aid me in the search of me.

I will type more tomorrow, for those watching me.

No Title 08-22-2009

So last night I saw "Inglorious Basterds." The movie was pretty good. I wasn't expecting most of the movie to be subtitled, but I'm actually glad that Quentin Tarantino used subtitles. I mean the movie is set in France, during WWII. There was some English spoken in the film, but that was because they were either Americans or British, or some Germans and French knew English. I enjoy movies when they strive for more realism, unlike "Valkryie."

"Valkryie," was also set in WWII, but was set in Germany, dealing with the happenings of the German reich. I never saw the movie, but I have seen the preview many times and the characters spoke English, not even with a German accent. What do I know?

Cough 08-21-2009

All I had to day for my cold was just a small cough here and there. Yeah!

I feel like I have been lazy all week because I never lifted weights. My exercising routine has been screwy the past three to four weeks. Hopefully next week everything will return to normal.

Also, I have not really practiced my guitar for at least the past two weeks.

My big accomplishment for the week has been learning adobe's encore cs4. I do not know how to make a dvd yet, using the software, but I'm slowly trying to learn it.

Practically Back to Normal 08-20-2009

Roughly five days have passed, and my cold is basically over. The only thing left is still a little plugging of the ears, but nothing terrible.

Tonight, I go to the local comedy club for some laughter and a little comedic inspiration. I participate in open mike nights. Sometimes I get some laughter out of people, but I'm still learning. I bring up comedy because this Saturday I supposedly will not be let in due to me always attending by myself. The stipulation is not the club's idea. The MC of the club is the one who gave me the so called "assignment." So, I called my brother earlier in the week. If he does not want to go with me, I will still go by myself and see what happens. In all honesty, I don't see the point of the whole debacle. Perhaps, I will ask the MC tonight why he cares about me going by myself.

Much Better 08-19-2009

Today I feel much, much better. This morning I woke up with kind of a stuffy nose. I washed my hair, but while I was combing my dew, I sneezed about 6 times in a row. My sneezes were pretty powerful, the type of sneezes that can sometimes hurt your chest. The only noticeable symptom I am feeling this afternoon is just a little plugging up of the right ear; however, that could just be from listening to my headphones all day at work.

I thought about lifting weights after work, but my body still feels like it should rest at least a day or two more. So, I will attempt to resume my weightlifting on Friday after work.

My Nose 08-18-2009

Day three of my cold has affected my nose more than yesterday. This morning I blew green gunk out of my nostrals. At work, I fought between wiping my nose and taking numerous trips to the bathroom to blow my nose. Now my nose is kind of containing the running nose liquid, a.k.a. snot/water, as of about 5'o clock this afternoon. The next phase of my cold, I believe is just starting. The next phase would be the plugging of my ears. I will update my condition tomorrow.

That is all for now.

Damn Cold - 08-17-2009

Today marks day three of my fight with a cold. My soar throat has gone away paving the way for the next symptom of the cold stage. The next stage being the dreaded runny nose. Who in the heck likes constantly blowing and wiping their nose. It's just annoying. Is there anyone out there who loves having a cold? What is the fastest way to rid myself of the damn thing? Is exercising good to do while having a cold? Well, we'll see what the next stage of my cold is in tomorrows post.

Shocker 8-15-2009

Well, I have not posted for the past two days. What a shocker! I knew I would miss a few days at the beginning. I thought about typing away, but obviously nothing was put in memory.

So, what's new? Well, yesterday was the beginning of a cold. I could tell a cold was forming in my body because my throat started feeling like I bruised it everytime I swallowed. Today, the cold has become a little more prominent. The back of my throat feels like I scratched it vigorously and is now healing. Also, I have been spitting gunk from my throat.

I recently have been given an assignment. I need to bring a guest with me to the comedy show I always attend every Saturday night; otherwise, I may be kicked out. How true this comment is, I do not know. I will try, but there are no guaranty.

That is my post for the day. I will update my cold status tomorrow.

08-13-2009

As I continue my blogging for the second day in a row, I almost procrastinated, but here I am writing, I mean typing away for some one to read.

People at town hall meetings shouting over politicians and questioners accomplish absolutely nothing. I'm not saying they don't have the right to express and speak freely, but they should be able to disagree with common courtesy. Yelling over people is pretty much like saying fuck to somebody. Some people rather not converse with you after such unprofessional language. This type of language also tends to generate stereotypes.

On a side note, I have no problem with people saying fuck. Fuck is just a word. Actually fuck is an abbreviation for Fornication Under Carnal Knowledge.

Until next time...so long everybody!!!

The Beginning of My Blogging - 08-12-2009

Here I am writing a blog for the first time. What will I accomplish with this? I will at least, as long as I keep updating regularly, improve my writing capabilities. I hope to keep adding at least one thing everyday whether I write a whole, long thought, or just one word.

Why choose the selected title? Well, I am interested in practically everything that is out there, including useless crap. Plus, there most likely will not be any limitations to what I jot down in my little Internet space.

Hopefully who ever pays any attention to this blog will be entertained and curious to return to read what I have spilled from my brain.

To give me reason to keep visiting my blog myself, I would like to ask a few questions:

First, has anybody read, or glanced at the Healthcare Reform bill proposed in the House 0f Representatives?

Second, do you think Healthcare needs revamping?

Third, I would like to take my own poll. List 10 ideas you have for improving Healthcare...Please give this answer in this form:
1...
2...
3...
etc...

---- I will leave you all with this: You may not like the other person's solution to the problem, but how would you solve the issue?----
